Before you start a work from home business

There are many things to consider before starting your own home based business. I have been in Multi level marketing and Network marketing for over twenty years. I have been in five different opportunities and that does not count one that I joined a second time. I can tell you that you can make money with MLM and network marketing, if they are legal. One of the first things you should do before starting your home based business is some research on different types of work from home business. You want to find one that fits you and your situation the best. There are so many out there to choose from and you want to make money by doing this. I know that when I started over twenty years ago I was young and had no idea what I wanted or what I was going to do. I have heard everything from it is so easy to make money to it is a scam. Any opportunity that you might join there are two common factors, you have to put in work and it will take some time to build a business. Now how much of both depends on how much you put into it. You should check out the compensation plan but remember that is not the most important part. I know what you are thinking, “you want to make money!” But you have to check out the different aspects of each home based business.

Some companies have a mandatory auto ship where when you sign up you have to buy a certain amount of products each month. So if you don’t order the necessary amount of volume then they will automatically ship your products and bill you. Some companies won’t let you market them on-line. Some companies make you qualify with a certain volume level to get paid or to get price breaks and if you don’t qualify then you don’t get paid or lose your price break. Now I don’t know your situation but you have to look into each work from home business opportunity to see what will suite you and your situation the best. If you are new and don’t know what you are doing and you have to order $100 worth of product each and every month and you don’t have the $100 then what? If you want an Internet business then a company that does not allow you to market on-line would not be a good choice.

Let me ask you a question, if you could make the perfect work from home business, what would it be? Take a minute to think about it. Well several years ago I asked myself that same question and here is what I came up with:

  • It had to be a home based business
  • I had to start off part time while I still worked my job
  • Must be an Internet business so I could do it anywhere in the world
  • Nothing to labor intensive, doing it part time to start
  • No store front or office to rent or buy
  • No employees, didn’t want that headache
  • A product or service that everyone wanted and needed
  • If  a product it had to be dropped shipped didn’t want to stock product
  • Residual income, keep on paying me after I did the work
  • Low start up cost, I was a cop and had no money
  • Good support if I needed help
  • I wanted more free time and more money

Now this list is not in any order and some of them may not be important to you or there may be some that you think of. But what I am getting at is for you to start your own list and then start looking for a work from home business opportunity that fits you best. Remember there is no magic button, get rich quick way, any and all opportunities require two things, work and time.
